Between Coffees - silly name for a serious business, but people remember it. Where did it come from? Honestly, I wish I could remember. These days I'll tell you it's because I do my best work between coffees.
Oddly enough, it all started with a broken leg. Back in the late '90s, I was laid up in bed and got curious about this new World Wide Web thing. I already knew about the internet - I'd had an electronic mail address at uni (you had to apply for one!) - but these web pages looked cool. So I bought a book and taught myself how to build them.
Not long after, I picked up FrontPage+ to help me along. In a chat with a colleague, she mentioned her medical society was looking for a website. One site led to another, and word spread among a tight-knit group of medical professionals that Tony could make websites.
My business grew from there. By the early 2000s, I left my job and became a stay-at-home dad while building Between Coffees. I still work with some of those early clients - helping them simplify their workflows as tech evolves.
Over time, support offerings naturally followed. Conversations often started with “Tony, do you know how to…” - and usually, I did. If not, I'd find out.
These days, I work with everyone from solo operators to national medical societies - building sites, solving tech headaches, and making sure everything just works.
I believe in practical fixes, jargon-free advice, and making sure clients feel confident - not confused. Whether it's a quick email setup or a full conference platform, I aim for clarity, polish, and long-term reliability.
When I'm not solving tech headaches, you'll find me walking my greyhound around Melbourne's west, patting one of my cats, watching movies (I was married in a cinema - feel free to ask about it), or driving my kids somewhere.
